I had heard about this study and had serious questions about it (not the least because of its very, veyr specific population), but this article draws a very, very nice and rich storyline from it.

I think that ultimately it's hopeful, although I had to laugh at how many of the more pernicious defence mechanisms I both have (or have had and have fortunately moderated) and have observed, rampantly, here in D-land. Food for thought. But human beings are malleable, and much is hope.
