I remember talking to a coach of a famous athlete, when I was on a national team trip but at a point at which I didn't think I could continue running (read: was feeling pressure to pursue a more practical career). I asked him, "What should I do to make this work, to improve further?"

His answer: get married (to someone who would provide financial support)...
