"I am seeking, I am striving, I am in it with all my heart." -Vinc3nt V@n Gogh

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just in time, not just in case.

You know how you sometimes find something exactly as you need it?

(Maybe you always do - for you're looking for what you need (hopefully).)

Secondly, the passage from Beckett reminds us that this transient experience of bliss is a recollected experience, a work of memory. This is the lost time that we go in search of. It is one thing to experience happiness in the moment; it is another to recall such memories months, years or even decades later. This is one of the reasons why we feel compelled to write at all. Rousseaus reverie on the little boat is recollected long after the fact. And I dont think this is just nostalgia; it is rather the experience of what the Portuguese and Brazilians calls saudade, a kind of longing, a desire to recall something lost. But true saudade accepts almost fatalistically the fact that the moment of bliss has passed. This is why happiness is never fully distinguishable from the experience of melancholy, nor should it be. Perhaps we might say that happiness recalled is more intense than happiness experienced because it is tinged with longing and melancholy.

One reader rightly points out that it is not a question of times absence, which is absurd, but rather of the intensity of a certain experience of time. To say, as Rousseau does, that the state of bliss is one where time is nothing to it, is not to say that there is no time here. It is a question of different experience of the present, what Heidegger calls the rapture of ecstatic time that breaks through the ordinary series of past, present and future that habitually marks the rhythm of our lives. If eternity means anything, it is this lived intensity of the present.

From this: Great series, I must say
